Beacon Completes Sale of Virtual Event Production Company with In-house Software

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, June 27, 2022 – Beacon is pleased to announce the completion of another successful M&A mandate. Acting as the exclusive sell-side M&A advisor, Beacon assisted with the sale of a virtual event production company with in-house software to a strategic multi-national acquirer backed by a private equity partner.

As the first step of the process, Beacon conducted a thorough review of the client’s business and completed a comprehensive business valuation. The team then directly worked with the business owner to understand in detail the company’s operations from client engagement to post-production.

With its valuation and marketing teams’ expertise, Beacon prepared financial overview and projections as well as marketing deliverables. From there, the team identified the company’s unique characteristics, such as its lean business model, high-profile clientele, proprietary technology, and high operating margins, as strengths to leverage when engaging with potential buyers.

The Beacon transaction team then reached out to a number of synergistic buyers across North America, and eventually assisted the client in negotiating a transaction with a virtual event production business that saw the potential of acquiring the client and its proprietary webcasting technology.

About Beacon’s client – Based in Toronto, the client provides virtual event services such as webcasting, webinar management, public live-streaming, and event filming and editing. In addition, the company owns a virtual event platform and a physical studio space. The company has completed over 5,000 virtual and hybrid events before the acquisition.

About the Purchaser – The purchaser is a New York-based vendor-agnostic company specializing in Enterprise Virtual and Hybrid Events as well as Webinar platforms. Partnering with a variety of large virtual events providers such as Zoom, Microsoft, and Cisco, the business has built a significant presence and client base across four continents.
